Every call changed something about how it ran.
Toolkit: A pipeline rather than an app. n8n, self-hosted on Hostinger, joined the steps: text to image through Midjourney and OpenAI, then image to video through Wan, with Gemini handling the writing in between. A description went in one end and a finished short film came out the other without anyone touching it. n8n did the queueing, the retries and the hand-off between four different APIs, which was most of the work.
You described a memory and it came back as a short animated film. A birthday, an anniversary, a graduation, rendered in the same house style. It sat right at the front of what AI video could do, and everyone I showed it to thought it was extraordinary. So did I.
I was the whole team on this one: writing the pipeline, recruiting and interviewing potential cofounders, running the user interviews, and selling it. That combination taught me more than any of the apps that came after, and it is where I learned to chase problems people already have rather than ideas that are merely interesting.
It is still the idea I am proudest of building. Twenty films went out, three of them for companies, and 76,471 people watched them.
