Practice
The daily habit, in numbers
Duolingo is the world’s best-known daily habit app. I build a daily app myself (Braindex), so I charted 22 quarters of Duolingo’s own results, plus its 2025 language report: how many people come back every day, how many pay, and what they learn. Eight charts, every number sourced.
Feedback, please
I’m practising, so I’d love to hear what you’d change. Which chart would you actually post?

My own practice work. Not made with, or for, Duolingo. All figures are from their public pages, linked on each chart.
Sources: Duolingo’s quarterly results (press release and shareholder letter), Q2 2021 to Q3 2026, published at investors.duolingo.com; and the 2025 Duolingo Language Report (1 December 2025). Colours are from Duolingo’s own design site. The quote from Luis von Ahn is word for word from the Q3 2026 results.
Caveats: these are Duolingo’s own reported numbers, rounded to one decimal place, so growth rates I worked out can be a point away from the ones Duolingo quotes. DAUs and MAUs are averages across each quarter; paid subscribers are counted at quarter end. Bookings are money taken in, not revenue. The language report covers 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025 and gives rankings, not counts. Nothing here is investment advice. The Duolingo name and logo belong to Duolingo.
