Past project
MovieToons
AI animation that turned people’s memories into short films. It is still the most exciting idea I have had.
What it was
Take someone’s memory and render it as a short animated film. It sat right at the front of what AI video could do, and everyone I described it to thought it was extraordinary. So did I.
Why it stopped
We could not find product-market fit. We could not find a way to monetise it. We could not see a route to scale. Three separate walls, none of which had an obvious door, and eventually we moved on.
None of that was a technology problem. The thing worked. People liked watching it work. They just did not need it, and liking is not needing.
What it taught me
Not every idea that excites you is ready to be built, and no amount of excitement overcomes a market that does not care. What I got instead of a business was discernment, the habit of chasing problems that are problems not ideas that are merely interesting.
That is worth more than MovieToons succeeding would have been. It is also the reason the two projects that came after it were much smaller, much faster, and aimed at something people already do every day.
