Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. You can play every game as a guest, and a guest is asked for nothing at all. An account (13+) saves your streak to the cloud, lets you play on another phone, and puts your username on the daily leaderboard. Only account holders appear on the leaderboard.
What do I have to give to make an account?
A username, an email address and a phone number. The phone number is there to secure the account and get you back in if you lose access to your email. You are also asked your age range, gender, county and what you want to get out of your Irish -- each of those can be answered "Prefer not to say", and that does not limit the app.
I got a new phone. How do I get my progress back?
Sign in on the new phone with the same account you used before. Your streak, XP and best scores come back automatically. If you only ever played as a guest, progress was stored on the old phone only.
What's Dúshlán an Lae?
The daily challenge: eight rounds, a bit of every game. Everyone gets the same words each day, so you can compare scores. It resets at midnight your time.
How does the streak work?
Play Dúshlán an Lae once a day to keep your 🔥 streak going. Miss a day and it starts again.
Why did it say "Beagnach!" when my spelling was nearly right?
That means the letters were right but a sÃneadh fada (á é à ó ú) was missing or in the wrong place. It doesn't cost you a try, so fix the fada and go again.
I think a word or translation is wrong.
Please email me the word and what you think it should be. Irish has regional differences (Connacht, Munster, Ulster), and Fia Says uses the standard spelling taught in schools, but corrections are always welcome.
How do I change my leaderboard name?
Tap the person icon (top right) → the pencil next to your name.
How do I delete my account?
Tap the person icon (top right) → Delete my account. See Delete your account for details.
Does Fia Says have ads or in-app purchases?
No.
